Restore Function. Reduce Pain. Reconnect with Your Body.

Scars may appear healed on the surface but often disrupt deepers layers-binding fascia, restricting movement, and contributing to pain, numbness, or tension. Whether from surgery, injury, or trauma, scar tissue can affect far more than the area it occupies.

MPS Scar Release therapy uses the Dolphin NeurostimTM device to deliver precise, gentle microcurrent stimulation over and around scar tissue, and improves circulation-all without needles or invasive methods.

Benefits of Treatment
• Improves mobility and postuer
• Reduces pain, sensitivity, or pulling around scars
• Restores normal tissue tone and skins sensation
• Enhances cirucaltion, lymph flow, and nervous system regulation
• Supports recovery after surgery or injury

Commonly Treated Scars
• C-section, hysterectomy, abdominal surgery
• Orthopedic post-op (knee, hip, shoulder)
• Burns, injuries, Keloids, and hypertrophic scars
• Old scars still causing pain or dysfunction

What to Expect?

Sessions are gentle and require no downtime. The treatment feels like a mild tapping or pulsing, and many patients feel relaxed during and after the session. A brief intake is completed beforehand to ensure safety and tailor care.

Note:
Patients may receive this therapy even in the early post-operative phase, as long as the incision is fully closed and cleared for treatment by their surgeon or primary care provider.

Who would benefit from this?
• People with surgical or injury-related scars (new or old)
• Individuals experiencing pain, pulling, or tingling around scars
• those with restricted movement or unexplained symptoms linked to scar sites
• Patients in post-surgical recovery seeking a non-invasive support method
• Anyone wishing to reconnect with and restore their body after trauma

Treatment Plan
Most individuals benefit from 3-10 sessions depending on the size, depth and age of the scar. Follow-up care may include massage, movement or self-care instructions for best results.

Medical Clearance
If you are seeking scar treatment after a recent surgery, the scar must be fully closed(no open wounds, scabs, or oozing), and you must have medical clearance from your surgeon or primary care provider before receiving treatment. A simple written or verbal confirmation is acceptable unless otherwise advised.

Precautions & Contraindications:

Scar Release Therapy is not appropriate if you have:
• Open wounds, active infections, or inflamed skin
• Internal electrical devices (e.g., pacemaker, implanted defibrillator etc)
• Uncontrolled seizures or epilepsy
• Recent radiation burns or active cancer treatment
• Unstable health conditions where touch or stimulation is contraindicated

Treatment may be postponed or modified if:
• You are in early pregnancy (certain areas will be avoided)
• You are experiencing intense emotional distress related to the scar
• You recently had another major procedure or trauma
• Skin is hypersensitive, extremely thin, or fragile at  the site.

Medications to Disclose
Massage therapy can interact with certain medications in ways that may increase risk or require treatment adjustments. Please inform your therapist of all current medications, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and recent injections (e.g., Botox, Corticosteroids).

Why it Matters:
• Blood Thinners (e.g, Warfarin, Aspirin, Plavix): May increase bruising or internal bleeding risk.
• Anti-inflammatories and painkillers (NSAIDs, opioids): May dull pain feedback, masking tissue damage.
• Steroids (oral or injected): May weaken connective tissue or thin skin.
• Muscle relaxants or sedatives: Can increase the risk of light-headedness or falling asleep during or after treatment.
• Insulin or diabetic medications: Can impact blood sugar regulation; massage may lower blood sugar levels unexpectedly.
• Chemotherapy or immunosuppressants: Require extra precautions for infection control and lymphatic sensitivity.
• Hormone therapy or antidepressants: May affect tissue response, emotional reactivity, or circulatory response.

If you are Unsure
If you are uncertain how your medications may interact with massage therapy, please consult your healthcare providers for clearance prior to treatment. We are happy to adapt your session accordingly once we understand your current needs and safety requirements.
